If I were to make a living with a job having to do with dogs and rescue dogs I would probably only be able to help build awareness as it is a hard issue to resolve single handedly. If I were to go off on my own I would probably keep blogging and try to get on a larger scale to be noticed. I could help out at animal shelters around the world to spread awareness if I wanted to travel and do my job. However I could also join forces with an existing company who has already built their brand up and is already known to the world. The National Humane Society, for example, is an existing company that I would probably reach out to as they are known nationally and they strive for the same things as I do. Unfortunately with the topic I chose there is not too much that can be done to help rescue dogs by ourselves, we just have to keep trying to spread the word to hopefully make a change in the legal system. Eventually I hope there is regulations that animal shelters have to follow to demolish this outrageous and extremely preventable issue of the conditions of animal shelters. Dogs and any other animal for that matter deserve amazing lives. Why is animal cruelty such a big issue? I wish I knew, these defenseless animals are so much more than some people treat them. In conclusion, as maybe not my entire career but as a side job/ passion, I hope to make a significant difference and change the atmosphere of animal shelters.

There are millions of people out there who are doing exactly what I am doing here on my blog. People who are trying to change the atmosphere of animal shelters and the fate of the majority of rescue animals. Like I have talked about in my previous blog posts, the National Humane Society strives to do exactly this, they are probably the most known company who has to do with shelter pets. Another person who has inspired me to choose this topic is the lady who we got my rescue dog, Charlie, from. She started up and owns 11th Hour Animal Rescue, which she runs from her own home. She is one woman who adopts rescue animals who are about to be euthanized or need a lot of help and then puts them up for adoption from her own very backyard. She would rescue all the dogs in the world if she could, she does not have a ton of money but she is so dedicated and does what she loves. She even has alpacas, cats and sheep that she also rescued. She has a Facebook page for where she shares lost dog posts, adoptable dogs and spreads awareness of help that is needed for dogs all over. She told my family about this one time she went in to an animal shelter and came home with 32 dogs (every single dog in the shelter) because she could not stand to leave any one of them. It was in the middle of winter and the day of she lost power for 3 days and she said it was the most crazy and stressful time but she does not regret any part of it. It is people like her who make me believe that anything is possible, so many people say that they can not go in to shelters because they would want to adopt all of them, and this woman did just that. There needs to be more people like her in the world. If it was not for her Charlie and so many other dogs would not have the life they all do today. www.facebook.com/11th-Hour-Animal-Rescue-and-Sanctuary-263851886981192/?fref=ts nationalhumanesociety.org/ My dog, Charlie, who we rescued from 11th Hour Animal Rescue.
This blog is all about dogs and ultimately if you own one you understand the impact that they have on our lives just by being themselves. They help in so many different ways that some people do not give them enough credit for. Besides giving unconditional love, loyalty and being there when no one else is, for some people their dog is all they have. In the dog's perspective, their owners are literally their whole world. It breaks my heart how many dogs or any animal are in shelters or abandoned and on their own. The saddest thing is that they do not know any different, until we show them. That is why we see so many emotional videos on Facebook or the internet about certain dogs whose life has been turned around from something so tragic and then they get adopted and nursed back to health. But there are an obscene number of dogs in shelters that do not get that 2nd chance. Shelters cause dogs to completely change in behavior, if a dog is in a shelter too long then it will become aggressive due to the fact that they have been isolated for so long and their only experiences with humans have been bad ones. After dogs become aggressive then they are labeled as "unadoptable" because they are seen as dangerous and then they become euthanized. This problem can 100% be avoided, it is not the dog that is in fault, the conditions that dogs in shelters have to endure makes that dog's behavior change as a defense mechanism. Dogs of all ages are in shelters and it is a bigger problem than people even know. The National Humane Society realizes this problem and tries to improve the lives of shelter animals throughout the world. They strive for “improving the lives of rescue animals across America. We stand with shelters and humane societies around the country in the mission to find abandoned animals homes and to help rectify the over-population crisis of dogs and cats in the US”. It is organizations like these that give me hope for the future of shelter dogs, because something needs to be changed.
nationalhumanesociety.org/About-Us.php www.peta.org/issues/companion-animal-issues/animal-shelters/ www.americanhumane.org/animals/adoption-pet-care/issues-information/pet-overpopulation.html The purpose of my blog is to talk about everything and anything about dogs. They are apart of so many people's lives and for some people their dog is all they have. I am also creating this to raise awareness about rescue dogs. There is no shortage of people who want to own and adopt a dog, however they get their dog through breeders. There is no problem with using breeders but how I think of it as is you know those puppies from breeders will 100% be adopted in hours of the breeder putting them up for adoption, in fact there will be way more people looking to buy them then there are puppies. However there are millions of dogs (or any pet) that have been abused, neglected, abandoned or they are "too old" for people to want to adopt them. Little do people know that there are tons of puppies who are on death row or in shelters because people go straight to breeders. Older dogs do not get enough credit at all, they give just as much love and need just as much care as a puppy does but unfortunately millions get put down everyday because nobody wants them. Statistics show that 60% of dogs in animal shelters end up being euthanized and 5 million animals enter animal shelters each year. I want to raise awareness to try and change this statistic. Adopting a rescue dog saves a life and inspires other people to do the same. That is what happened with my family, my first dog Buster was from a breeder and by no means do we regret it, he is one of the best things to come to my family. But this summer one of our friends adopted a dog and told us their story which inspired us to adopt Charlie and now they are the best of friends. However, there are millions of more dogs like Charlie that need help. http://www.rescueme.org/ http://www.humanesociety.org/ http://www.statisticbrain.com/animal-shelter-statistics/ |
