The purpose of my blog is to talk about everything and anything about dogs. They are apart of so many people's lives and for some people their dog is all they have. I am also creating this to raise awareness about rescue dogs. There is no shortage of people who want to own and adopt a dog, however they get their dog through breeders. There is no problem with using breeders but how I think of it as is you know those puppies from breeders will 100% be adopted in hours of the breeder putting them up for adoption, in fact there will be way more people looking to buy them then there are puppies. However there are millions of dogs (or any pet) that have been abused, neglected, abandoned or they are "too old" for people to want to adopt them. Little do people know that there are tons of puppies who are on death row or in shelters because people go straight to breeders. Older dogs do not get enough credit at all, they give just as much love and need just as much care as a puppy does but unfortunately millions get put down everyday because nobody wants them. Statistics show that 60% of dogs in animal shelters end up being euthanized and 5 million animals enter animal shelters each year. I want to raise awareness to try and change this statistic. Adopting a rescue dog saves a life and inspires other people to do the same. That is what happened with my family, my first dog Buster was from a breeder and by no means do we regret it, he is one of the best things to come to my family. But this summer one of our friends adopted a dog and told us their story which inspired us to adopt Charlie and now they are the best of friends. However, there are millions of more dogs like Charlie that need help. http://www.rescueme.org/ http://www.humanesociety.org/ http://www.statisticbrain.com/animal-shelter-statistics/
